The Bay Area St. Thomas Aquinas Association (BASTA), founded in 2014, is a community of scholars dedicated to studying and discussing the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas. This loose association, centered in the San Francisco Bay Area, hosts an annual gathering where members present research and discuss insights into Aquinas' work. Over the years, BASTA has expanded beyond the local academic scene, welcoming nationally recognized scholars.
The Association also encourages emerging scholars (and interested non academics) to partake in these annual forums, fostering the growth of the next generation of Aquinas enthusiasts. Despite its informal structure, BASTA has been instrumental in promoting and preserving the philosophical wisdom of Thomas Aquinas, demonstrating its continued relevance in contemporary thought.
